A delicious quarter

Quarter one welcomed students back to BHS with high spirits, higher expectations, and delicious rewards! Walking into the lunchroom on an October afternoon, a sweet surprise awaited students. Smoothies samples were being made fresh with a variety of flavors including Strawberry Banana, Chocolate Milkshake, Coffee, and Mango. Students loved these treats without a doubt, one freshman saying, “They were delicious. My favorite was the chocolate!”
As much joy as these smoothies brought, questions did arise as to why they were here. According to Mrs. Dollins, our Food Services Director (FSD), the company Bar Fresh from Boston was sampling their product at BHS to see if students would enjoy having these smoothies as an option during breakfast and lunch periods. Bar Fresh makes pre-done, dry mixes for smoothies and milkshakes. Just add water and shaved ice, mix, and your delicious beverage is ready to go! The company also uses no artificial preservatives, flavors, or colors.

Overall, the reaction of the student body was very positive, and BHS will now be seriously considering introducing these smoothies into the regular lunch offerings. Also, a new taste-testing program will start, in which students will have the ability to vote for or against all types of new goods.
