School lunches

Now, what exactly is a school lunch? To answer that question to the best of my ability: I am not sure. Looks like a slab of unfrozen chicken placed between two whole-wheat buns or some discolored “spaghetti noodles” that tastes exactly like paper. If you like eating paper, then the spaghetti here is divine and perfect for you. By the end of my sophomore year, I gave up on eating lunch and resorted to the snack line (shoutout to my girl, Pauline). In all seriousness, I have two problems with the lunches here at BHS: the price, and the taste.
Good for our school for having mainly wheat choices to pick from, I feel healthier just thinking about it. I never really liked having white wraps in the sub line, either, because the struggle with trying to bite through the ugly brown ones this year is so much better! Chewing it is also amazing, because I am burning more calories than what I am consuming! Who needs to pay for a gym membership when all you have to do is order the Bulldog Favorite in a wheat wrap?! You lose about the same amount of calories, since you are working hard on chewing and digesting the heavy bread.
I would, also, be willing to pay $3.50 per meal, if it weren’t for how expensive it is and how much I dislike this entire wheat epidemic. IF it weren’t for the school eliminating all possibility of white breaded products, I would still eat the lunches and I assume many others feel the same. Maybe, just maybe, it is my picky eating trait that I got from my mom driving me to avoid the long lunch lines as much as possible.
All in all, the lunch ladies here are amazingly nice and I appreciate all their hard work in preparing and serving the food to hundreds of hungry teenagers. Unlike the lunch ladies, the food is not nice and not as enjoyable as some may hope (unless you’re willing to pay almost four dollars for paper). My hope for school lunches shriveled up and blew away in the wind. But alas, there is still the snackline option, where the good stuff’s at.
