Unified Basketball

Unified Basketball is a Bedford High School winter sport where life skills students can play competitive basketball with the help from peer partners who guide them along way. Our Unified Basketball team is coached by Kathy Campbell-Kelly and Carrie Welch and they compete against other unified teams from other schools.
The great thing about UBB is that it is very low-commitment and is open to anyone who would like to play. The practices take place in the gym during Monday long advisory days so that after school attendance for practice is not required. This years team is the biggest it has ever been with 7 life skills students and 14 peer partners.
Being on the Unified Basketball team is a fun and uplifting experience that teaches good sportsmanship and teamwork. Paige Wallat is a member of the Unified team this year and says, “My favorite part about being on the unified team is getting to know all the nice people! The kids are so fun and everyone is happy to be there!” This team is truly filled with team members who enjoy playing together and everyone has a great time during every practice and game.
Natalie Kelley is another peer partner who joined the Unified Basketball team for the first time this year and she says, “I love Unified Basketball because it got me out of my comfort zone and also made me meet new, wonderful people. Being on the team was all about accomplishing goals in a team oriented manner which is a great skill to have.”
The Unified Basketball team is a wonderful program that allows the life skills students to be apart of BHS athletics and participate in a competitive and fun environment!
