With the new school year, the Bedford High School community welcomes a new school counselor: Mrs. Lipinski. Lipinski will be covering students with last names L through M, replacing the loss of Mr. Rider this summer.
Originally, Mrs. Lipinski was a teacher at West High School, where she taught health, child development, and life skills classes. “I loved it,” she says, “but I also knew that I loved the college process, and I liked working with students in different capacities, including individual college and career counseling and social-emotional counseling. My second year teaching I realized I wanted to be more in the school counseling department and have a little bit different role, but still be in education.” |
Now a school counselor for 11 years, Mrs. Lipinski loves her job. A true people person, she enjoys meeting with a variety of people different everyday, from students, to fellow staff members, to college representatives. “I just like the variety of it. I love working with different people, particularly students, every day,” she comments.
Outside of her career, Mrs. Lipinski enjoys cooking and visits to the lake and beach. She would love the opportunity to travel, specifically to Italy, Switzerland, and Fiji.
Mrs. Lipinski is excited to be a part of the BHS community. The school maintains a positive reputation, and she asserts that her experiences at the school so far have affirmed this. “I’m looking forward to getting to know each of my students,” she says. “It’s hard being new and not knowing everybody and everybody’s past, but I’m excited to work hard to get students comfortable and happy and feeling successful.”
For Mrs. Lipinski, the key to feeling happy and successful is to be yourself. “Find your balance,” she advises students. “A balance for one person is different than a balance for another, so you have to find the right balance for you. Do what’s right for you, what’s right for your family, and what’s right for your long-term goals. Make sure your authentic self is always shining through.”
