Valentine's Day Pros

February 14th, known as Valentine’s Day, marks the one day a year when people all around the world celebrate love. Apart from the few relationships, Valentine's Day is just like any other holiday dedicated to the love and appreciation of others. No one said you had to be in a relationship in order to enjoy Valentine's day and the truth is, most high schoolers are not in a relationship. Even though the meaning of Valentine's Day has changed from the days in grade school, the holiday only improves as one gets older. This holiday is not only great for couples but also for general business; movie theaters, restaurants, candy manufacturers and in the case of Bedford High School, fundraising. Businesses often experience their best sales of the year. For Valentine’s Day, the theaters are playing Rebel Wilson’s new movie How to Be Single, and if that's too much romantic comedy than Zoolander 2 is another good option starring the same cast as the first film: Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell. Deadpool might be a bit of a reach for a Valentine’s Day movie, but so is watching the Die Hard series on Christmas Eve. Food is pretty popular for Valentine’s Day, both candy and dinner. Whether out with friends, family or a sweetheart there is no better way to experience Valentine’s Day and no better excuse to eat a box of chocolates or go to a nice restaurant to celebrate. There are multiple ways one could spend Valentine’s Day provided that it is enjoyed with friends and family. Valentine’s Day has become less about the candy and more about the good food and spending time with loved one’s. It is extremely unlikely there will be a lot of Bedford High students returning home with boxes full of Valentine’s candy. If Vermin Supreme is elected, this may change. On the bright side, students don’t have to waste time writing impersonal To’s-and-From’s and candy quality will likely improve. A nice feature of Valentine’s Day, like Halloween, is the simplicity of the holiday. One of the most popular traditions is sending anonymous “valentines” to other people just to let them know they are thought of. There is nothing wrong with going over the top for Valentine’s Day and buying bae a ten pound $90 stuffed bear, a box of chocolates and beautiful red roses, but sometimes a nice Valentine’s Day card can mean the most.
